LIFE IN PICTURES: How to make breadfruit pudding

Breadfruit pudding, termed "Banbu-keyo bondi-baiy" in Maldives' mother tongue Dhivehi, is a sweet, delicious dessert that is good for any time or occasion.

Get an unripe (outer skin will be light green in color) and cut into tiny cubes as shown in the combo pictures here.

Put them into a cooking utensil, add a generous amount of sugar, add water, some pandan leaves ("raanbaa faiy") and depending on personal preference, put jasmine flavored water and cook.

Eat warm or chilled according to personal preference.

Add unadulterated coconut milk when eating, once again depending on your personal preference.

Breadfruit is an excellent source of proteins, essential amino acids, vitamin C, B1, B5, and minerals. These nutrients help strengthen the immune system by reducing the chances of infections. They also improve hair and aid in bone growth.

As a low glycemic super food, breadfruit has great potential for use in the production of functional, vegetarian and gluten-free foods as well as for the management of conditions such as coronary heart disease and diabetes.

Breadfruit aids digestion, improves brain function, reproductive health, and prevents cancer. It also helps in weight management, improves skin health, regulates blood pressure, and helps in overall immunity.
