Saali's hand-painted ceramics exhibition is unmissable

Titled in Maldives’ native Dhivehi language as "Kan'dun Kulavaru", which translates to "colorful glimpses from the ocean", the exhibition that was launched on the 7th of this month concludes on November 28, 2023.

Held at the waterfront private Art Gallery Male', Saali's works offer a "playful and intricate insight into the marine life below our waters", according to her introductory brochure.

The exhibits feature interesting artworks of marine life such as a variety of corals and fish, some of which I have photographed, including the page containing the introductory text about her bio and exhibition, and included into a combo for my Instagram account.

The brochure describes that Saali "initially started painting this collection to explore her admiration of marine life and whilst working on this became even further fascinated, and now looks back on it almost as a way to preserve through art the wonders of the ocean in an ever-unpredictable world".

"Saali started this collection earlier this year taking inspiration from the omnipresent ocean when living an island life," the brochure goes on to say.

Using pre-formed terracotta pots as her base for the paintings, Saali is based in Maldives' capital island Male', and is described as a "multi-faceted artist who also uses mediums of jewelry design and embroidery”.

The brochure also says that all of her work can be viewed on her Instagram account, @blueshell.mv
