Embarking on a hot chocolate journey?

Not really. I find hot chocolate more appropriate for cold climates in order to get our insides warmed up. So it was a pleasant beverage during my visit to France and then Switzerland's Geneva to give a speech on the human rights situation of Maldives to a United Nations (UN) agency.

Seems like my lemonade tasting spree is over as I have experienced various varieties at various food outlets and I am now kind of fed up with it. Lol.

So... in his comments to one of my lemonade tasting blogposts, Shaari mentioned his hot chocolate tasting outings and I thought that was another - and new - journey worth embarking on, until I get fed up of it, too. Hehe.

So today evening I went first to Café Iyer which is second best according to Shaari's taste.

But I faced a problem: there were 3 choices of hot chocolate and since Shaari didn't mention which one he tasted, I didn't order and immediately went to Kahika which Shaari said is his number one. There was only one choice there which I ordered and now I understand why Shaari said it's his top one.

This also brings to mind me and two other girl friends going to Rodchenko and the three of us trying hot chocolate. It was very thick and my friends advised that we need to swallow it down before it became cold because otherwise it may lose its pleasant taste. So we gulped it down.

Would I try hot chocolate again at another food outlet? Not really. As I said, it's more appropriate for cold climates, and therefore I might try it again but only when the Maldives weather turns cold on rainy days.

  1. Dark chocolate from Ier. Or from anywhere for that matter if they've the choice. I'm glad it's the only choice available at Kahika. Ier's is thick to the point it feels like drinking melted chocolate. Kahika's is lighter but hits the right spot and the Beligian chocolate they use just tastes better.
You might also like Coffee Shrub's if you're up for trying one more.

    1. Ier does have dark chocolate. I will go there again and try it. Rodchenko's hot chocolate also felt like melted chocolate. I am definitely up for at least one more hot chocolate outing before I resume tasting other beverages, so I will try the hot chocolate at Coffee Shrub too. I will blog about Iyer and Coffee Shrub soon. Thank you very much for the recommendations 😀
