I am still on my lemonade tasting spree.
Last night I went to Secret Recipe chain's café in Male'.
I checked their drinks menu and found that, like most other restaurants and cafés, they also have lime juice and lemon juice, and then, much to my delight I saw the word "lemonade".
I was looking specifically for that telltale lemonade which, though has a similar taste, is somewhat different - a difference that I don't know much about because I am not a culinary arts chef and therefore for me lime juice and lemon juice and lemonade seem variants of a similar species - to quote a metaphor from our environment.
I earlier blogged about tasting the best lemonade I have tasted so far, which was at The Keyolhu restaurant in Hulhumale.
I then blogged about the lemonade at Sea House Maldives in Male' which fell short of my ideal taste in comparison to The Keyolhu's lemonade.
So last night I tried the lemonade at Secret Recipe but I had them make a custom made one for me to see whether it tasted like The Keyolhu's lemonade.
I asked them how they made lemonade and a waiter told me their ingredients were lime, sugar syrup, and ice.
So I asked them to add Sprite and double the sugar syrup and hey presto, I was served with a lemonade as good as the one served at The Keyolhu!
Of course, this doesn't mean I am going to discontinue my lemonade tasting adventure: I plan to taste it at every cafe and restaurant that offers it. And if I want a satisfactory one, I will ask them to double the sugar syrup and add Sprite. As simple as that.
When it's that simple, you should try making your own too.
ReplyDeleteYou have a point. I do my own thing when the recipe is simple. Like tortilla: I mix Kraft cheese strips and Felivaru canned tuna and roll them in flour "roshi" - after having tasted it in a Maldives' restaurant.
DeleteBut with regard to lemonade, I have to continue my lemonade tasting journey because after visiting Hotel Jen's rooftop restaurant last night and having tasted a lemonade there, I have realized that different restaurants have their own unique formulas when it comes to lemonade - like other food and beverages too. I will elaborate on this in a blogpost soon. Stay tuned. Thanks.
