When to stop using the "Full Stop"?

I was wondering lately: when we chat or send text messages online or offline, we don't normally put the "full stop" at the end of the last sentence. Why? Aesthetic reasons? Or some other considerations?

I asked around and a friend said he puts the "full stops" in all sentences except the last sentence which, therefore, would not cause any confusion to the meaning of the whole chat or text message.

There is a whole load of information on this topic which can be Googled - with interesting answers such as what a "full stop" can mean on different specific platforms such as, for example, WhatsApp.

One factor which caught my interest was that when we put the "full stop" at the end of the last sentence, it may mean there is nothing more to discuss, and that this may convey rudeness on the part of the sender as if he or she seems to want to put the conversation to an abrupt end.

Whether rude or not, not putting a "full stop" at the end of the last sentence can mean the conversation has not ended and can still be left open for a continued discussion.

While "full stops" in online or offline conversations can have such complications, in written language in “serious” articles, such as essays, the use of a "full stop" is simpler in terms of its use, and need not be rude in its meaning, and can be the factor which indicates that the sentence has ended and that therefore, there is nothing to add to that sentence, and if there is anything more to say, a new sentence can be "opened".

Another friend is of the view that texting is an informal conversation which does not need attention to such things as punctuation and capitalization (which are corrected by auto-correct), but what if two people are involved in serious work and coordinating it in real time through a communication platform such as Viber?

Of course, there are people who use a bubble for each sentence which would therefore not require "full stops".

I feel silly - and also feeling I have gone off the rails now - because I am dedicating a whole blogpost to a matter as trifling as this, but truthfully speaking, I have an almost neurotic disposition at perfection in all matters I am involved in. And therefore, because the use of language requires that we use "full stops", I am bothered when people don't use it properly in their writings.

While an OCD like behavior may have its disadvantages, for example, making life more difficult when I could instead live more simply, these kind of obsessions do have their advantages such as when it comes to taking care of myself more properly and doing the things I do with more attention (to detail). That can't be a bad thing, is my guess 🤔
