There’s a big world of surf out there, and as surfing has proliferated, many places that were once low-key and “off the beaten path” are now quite easy to reach and very popular. What makes for a proper and adventurous surf trip in 2024? Well, you could cut this cake in a multitude of ways and hear different answers from nearly everyone you ask.
In my mind, the place would be far from what you hear other people talk about in the lineup. Don’t get me wrong, I love Costa Rica, Mexico, Puerto Rico, El Salvador and all other Central American and Caribbean surf destinations but, for this, I’m thinking further afield…Dakar, Senegal, to be exact.
