LIFE IN PICTURES: Sweet-smelling Pink Rose - National Flower of Maldives


This is a Pink Rose from a rose bush taken care of by my family.

The Pink Rose, botanically classified as Rosa polyantha, thrives in the Maldivian climate and was officially declared the National Flower of Maldives in 1985.

Its delicate pink petals and sweet fragrance symbolize love, beauty, and resilience, characteristics deeply cherished by the Maldivian people.

Locally known as "Finifenmaa" or "Fiyaathoshi Finifenmaa", these beautiful blooms hold a special place in the hearts of Maldivians, adorning public gardens, private homesteads, and even religious ceremonies.

Pink roses can be found in numerous countries around the world.

They are cultivated and grown in various regions, and many countries have a rich tradition of rose cultivation.
