My latest English translated book now published: "Koimala and Rannamaari: A Folklore in History"

It's available at the book fair (which will end tomorrow, Sunday, November 12, 2023) of the Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) in Maldives' capital island Male'.

TOP LEFT: The front cover of the translated book.

TOP RIGHT: The back cover of the book with my full name (Ismail Khilath Rasheed) identifying me as the translator.

BOTTOM RIGHT: The cover of the Maldives' native Dhivehi language version of Ms. Aminath Ibrahim's story of the first king of Maldives, "Maleh Fadha Koi... Koimala", a poor Sri Lanka immigrant.

BOTTOM LEFT: The cover of "Rannamaari! Kudavey! Kudvavey!", about a sea demon which terrorized Maldives' society at the time Koimala was king.

I translated the two Dhivehi versions and Ms. Aminath integrated both versions into a single English language translated book because naturally the Rannamaari story was a sequel to the Koimala story of he establishing himself as the first king of Maldives and the Rannamaari, a sea demon terrorizing Maldives during his 25-year reign, was defeated by a foreign Islamic scholar, that resulted in inspiring Maldivians to convert from Buddhism to Islam. The Rannamaari story is a folklore as there is no historical factual information to account for the whole Maldives' population to convert to Islam.

This is a book in English aimed for a "foreign" tourist audience from Ms. Aminath who is a prolific writer, among her other various achievements. A brief summary of her life, described in the "About the author" page, I have photographed and posted below:
