Pet cancer awareness: injection-site Sarcomas in cats

By AmberPone

One of my childhood cats (Edzik), who I've shared many photos of in my early dA years, had been suffering from what the vet described as injection-site sarcoma for a year now.

It's an aggressive tumor that can form in the animal's tissue as a rare negative side effect of certain vaccines, like rabies and leukemia, in the spot where injections are usually done. It's very difficult to remove, and can quickly regrow even after a fully successful surgery.

He went through 2 surgeries and no cancerous cells were detected for some time, until they came back and spreaded to his chest and most likely other organs. All those months we've tried to make him feel better any ways we could, but we came to a decision to finally end his suffering today. FULL STORY from deviantArt
