ކަރަންޓަކީ މިއަދު އަހަރުމެންގެ ދިރިއުޅުމުގައި އެޔާ ނުލާ ނޫޅެވޭނެ ނުވަތަ ނެތް ނަމަ އެތައް ދަތިތަކެއް ދިމާވާނެ އެއްޗަކަށް މިވަނީ ވެގެން ގޮސްފަ އެވެ. މިއީ އަހަރުމެން މުއާމަލާތްކުރާ ގޮތާއި، މަސައްކަތްކުރާ ގޮތުގެ އިތުރުން ދިރިއުޅުމުގެ ވައްޓަފާޅިއަށް ބޮޑު އިންގިލާބެއް ގެނެސްދިން އަޖައިބުކުރުނަވި ބާރެކެވެ. ފަށުވި ފޮއްޗާއި އަނގުރު ޖަވާހިރުން ފެށިގެން ހޮނުއެޅުމުގެ ބިރުވެރި މަންޒަރާއި, ބޮކީގެ އައްޔާއި ހަމައަށް، ކަރަންޓުގެ ދިގު ތާރީހަކީ ސައިންޓިފިކް ހޯދުންތަކާއި، ޓެކްނޮލޮޖީގެ ކުރިއެރުންތަކާއި، އިންސާނީ ފަންނުވެރިކަމުގެ މުތްތަކުން ޖަރީވެފައިވާ ޝައުގުވެރި ވާހަކައެކެވެ. އެހެން ކަމުން އަހަރުމެންގެ މިއަދުގެ ދިރިއުޅުން ބައްޓަންކުރާ ކަރަންޓު، ފުރާ ފުރިހަމަވުމަށް ބާރުއެޅި މުހިންމު ހޯދުންތަކަށް ބަލާލުމަށް މާޒީގެ ތެރަށް ފީނާލަމާ ހެއްޔެވެ. އަދަދު ނޫހުން އިތުރަށް ވިދާޅުވޭ

That takes us to the question of why we hardly see any good articles in the mainstream Maldivian media now.
The short answer is they can’t & they won’t publish good articles on their platforms.
Why?
Because they are in the business of selling eyeballs & clicks.
If you write on the history of the development of electricity, the burgeoning fiscal deficit, the external debt or about Tolstoy, your article will at best garner only handful of clicks.
But on the other hand, if you write about how Gasim bends over Balak Ali Waheed or about the discrepancies in the Hadith Sheikh Imran recites at Ibu Solih’s campaign rallies or about Sun Siyam’s excessive flamboyance, you get thousands of clicks, Likes & hundreds of shares.
Why would any media want to run a story that has no public appeal?
Boils down to basic economics of supply & demand. Profit maximizing businesses can’t produce anything that has zero demand.
And then you & I sit down & complain about how no Maldivian media outlet publishes anything of substance. They simply can’t.
