Every day I learn something new.
At first I thought it was a bad thing to be so ignorant at my age but then I realized that in a universe of so many "things" I can't be expected to know everything.
I also realized it's a good thing to learn a new thing every day because then living life would make it all the more exciting and therefore worth living.
So... The latest thing I learnt is the concept of "review bombing". It made me realize that some people have too much time on their hands. No wonder there are so many trolls, cyber bullies and whatnot.
My homepage is set to MSN (Microsoft Network) and today when I launched my Mozilla Firefox browser, there appeared a report about The Little Mermaid, which I watched last week at Schwack Cinema in Hulhumale, and which I liked very much, being "review bombed" in order for its ratings to drop from its current 7/10 figure on the Internet Movie Database (IMDB).
The article points out people reviewing movies even without watching them in order to create a negative impact on the box office results. In The Little Mermaid's case, there seems to be some white people's hatred towards a black person playing the role of a mermaid.
Such seemingly petty and stupid but actually otherwise serious issues always reminds me of Albert Einstein's quote that he likes to believe that the universe is finite while human stupidity is infinite.
MSN cites AvClub as the originator of the story and you can read the full article from this link.
So I just learnt a new thing. I knew this is something that happens but didn't know there's a term for it. Anyways, I've been meaning to watch Little Mermaid. Hearing mixed reviews so far but got a feeling I'd like it.
ReplyDeleteIn my case, I was not aware of even the concept of "review bombing", let alone come across that phrase.
DeleteAs to whether to watch The Little Mermaid or not, may be you can decide after reading my second blogpost about it which I posted today. Here: http://hilath.blogspot.com/2023/06/is-disney-providing-service-for-those.html?m=1
