Ibrahim "Gabbare" Abdullah voluntarily appeared at police headquarters on Tuesday and was remanded in custody for 30 days by the Criminal Court, according to a Maldivian native Dhivehi language report by local media outlet Mihaaru.
He had been missing for nine days prior to his appearance.
Gabbare, known for his involvement in fighting and serious crimes, was wanted for attempted murder. While details of the case were not provided by the police, it was reported that Gabbare was arrested for assaulting Hassan Zareer, the ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Mathiveri, inside a cafe in the capital Male' City.
The manhunt for Gabbare began on the 15th of this month.
Zareer stated that Gabbare, along with five others, entered the cafe and attacked him with a hammer, though he remains unaware of their motive.
