My epiphany

Assalaam alaikum.

Today I was thinking about my Advanced Level SEC (Science Education Center) mates taking up various kinds of interests and becoming great in what they do.

I have been a journalist from 1995 and a blogger from 2000. Before that, I used to give tuition in English language, History, and Fisheries Science to Ordinary Level students.

When I think about my own life now, I have wondered whether what I really have inside me is a "teaching" interest even if I don't give tuition now.

I think about how I spend my days now reading books, watching movies, visiting places, etc., and how I have a deep urge to blog about them.

I am led to the conclusion that I am still a teacher at heart and my teaching platform is my blog. In other words, I am still teaching!

When I had this epiphany, I realized that I am not wasting my life by choosing to be a blogger.

It's also like continuing a life of journalism although my articles now appear only on my blog.

I am quite happy about this. My blog gives me the creative freedom to choose what I want to write about and setting my own deadlines.

Therefore, I quite enjoy blogging and don't consider it a waste of time.

Al hamdhu lillaahi.

  1. Come to think of it, we're all teachers and students in some way throughout our lives. This blog is not a waste of time. In fact it shows you're back to being yourself, doing things you love and sharing it with us while it's also become a means to interact with friends you've long been out of touch with 😀

  2. Thank you very much for your kind words of encouragement. You are right in that, we live our whole lives from the beginning to the end always involved in a learning process, and the experiences that we obtain themselves serve as further steps to learning more and improving our lives in the process.

I believe it was a mistake I have not been writing anything for the last 7 years. Why I started updating this blog of mine from time to time now is because one of my very close friends from school days convinced me that human beings been social organisms need to express themselves and share their lives with others. It turned out to be true because I now feel very satisfied when I can write my thoughts on this blog about a variety of subjects such as books, movies, places, etc.

Not least, a big “thank you” to you too because you have never failed to support me in guiding me to the good paths that are of benefit to my life. And indeed, now that I have revived this blog, I am getting engaged more with the larger community again and re-establishing long-lost friendships. It is indeed a most rewarding experience. Thank you so much. May Allah bless you, your family, and all your close and loved ones. Aameen.
