- Hilath Rasheed resigned from Maldives newspaper Haveeru Daily in January 2009 after 14 years and has now chosen to be self-employed as a freelance journalist, writer and public relations manager. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication (Curtin University of Technology, Australia) his subjects being journalism, public relations, film and television, radio broadcasting, multimedia, graphic communication, design and animation, and advertising. On 3 May 2009, World Press Freedom Day, Hilath, along with two friends, launched and became the Editor of Eydhafushi Times, a community online newspaper, registered with the Maldives’ Department of Information, catering to Baa atoll community.
